Comparison between Tube Aerator and Disc Aerator
2019/9/29
Disc aerator is an earlier and more mature aerator.  At the beginning, the aerator was disc-type and made of corundum and ceramic. The main disadvantages of disc aerators are as follows.

1. There is a dead zone of aeration (the bottom of the pan is the same for simple analysis) and the stirring performance is not as good as that of the tube type.

2. Pipeline is relatively wasted, and the cost of the whole project is higher than that of pipe type.

3. When aeration is not performed, the mud is directly deposited on the surface of the plate, and it is started again until the mud is stirred again, which takes 30-40% more energy than the pipe type.

4. The arrangement density is not as high as that of tube type. If your pool is relatively small and the aeration volume is very large, you can only use tube type, because there are no more plates in this plane.

Advantages: According to the national standard, the disc pressure head loss is smaller than that of the tube type, about 1000pa; The oxygen transfer efficiency is slightly higher than that of some tubes.

Compared with the disc aerator, the advantages of tube type are obvious:

1. Good stirring performance.  The whole tubular aerator is perforated at 360 degrees, and there is no aeration dead angle area.

2. The cost of some pipelines is saved, and the project cost is obviously lower than that of disk type.

3. Without aeration, mud can only be deposited in a very small area in the middle of the pipe surface. A little radian toward the side increases, and mud cannot sink on it.  When it is started again, the mud will be vibrated and stirred quickly as soon as it is vibrated.  Therefore, in SBR and CASS processes, tubular technology has great advantages.
